Good Guy Windows LLC is a Registered Contractor with Snohomish PUD. registeredcontractorlogo-c

All of our lead installers are trained on the Snohomish PUD requirements & each come with over 20+ years of experience in the window industry. One of our lead installers is always present on every job we do.

Our standards for window installation are always on par with the same guidelines & requirements that Snohomish PUD has put in place. We apply these standards on every job we do.

The following Snohomish PUD guidelines cover both install types that we offer:

*Windows Installed with & without a Nailing Flange.

Key requirements for windows installed ‘without’ the Nailing Flange.

1) WHEN TO USE FLASHING?

When installing windows ‘without’ the Nailing Flange, Snohomish PUD requires Flashing along the top of each window that is not protected by a Porch, Soffit or an Eave overhang extending at least 12 inches and that is within 25 inches above the window.

NOTE: Flashing shall overhang the window frame a minimum of 1/4 inch and a maximum of ½ inch with a downward angle to ensure water runoff. The flashing shall be caulked on both the top (between the flashing and siding) and bottom edge (between the flashing and window frame).

2) DO MY WINDOWS NEED BACKER ROD ‘OR’ NON-EXPANDING FOAM?

Snohomish PUD requires Backer Rod or Non-Expanding foam ONLY when there is a gap of 1/4″ or more between the rough opening and window frame. Anything under 1/4″ does not need it & would actually be difficult to install in such a narrow space.

NOTE: The standard for measuring & ordering windows is to shrink the current window size by nearly 1/8″ of an inch on all 4 sides. This means when measured correctly, there should never be a need for either Backer Rod or Non-Expanding Foam.

Key requirements for windows installed ‘with’ the Nailing Flange.

1) CAULKING:

Snohomish PUD requires caulking to be installed between the nailing flange and the rough opening. An exterior quality caulk shall be used to seal the exterior trim to its contact point with the window frame and the exterior trim to siding to prevent water leakage.

2) WATERPROOFING & SEALANTS:

Snohomish PUD requires that all waterproofing materials be chemically compatible with the glazing seal. Glazing compounds sealants shall be installed with a slope to ensure water run-off.

WHAT TYPE OF CAULKING SHOULD BE USED?

Snohomish PUD requires that only an exterior quality caulk with a minimum 15 year product life is to be used in order to seal the exterior trim to its contact point with the window frame to prevent water leakage. The caulking shall also be paintable. The caulking that we use is one of the most popular brands amongst contractors & can be found at Home Depot, Lowes & Dunn Lumber. “Good Guys installed our new sliding glass door & did an excellent job! Very fast, efficient, and cleaned up any residual sawdust mess. They disposed of the old slider too which was an added benefit. I will definitely call on them again when we want to replace more windows.”

“We had 4 windows and a sliding door replaced by Good Guy Windows. Rob did an excellent job of supervising installation and ALL work was done efficiently. From taking out the old windows, disposing of them and replacing them with the new. We did run into a couple hiccups caused by a windows manufacturer, but the company worked with us and we are very happy with the windows. I would recommend Good Guy Windows to anyone thinking of replacing their Windows.”

“We had five windows done – two replacements, two enlargements and one completely new opening. Good Guy Windows gave us a very reasonable estimate and delivered on it with quality windows and service. The crew was incredibly nice and professional, completing the job within two days and leaving the rooms they had worked in immaculate and bright with all the new sunlight pouring through the new windows. They noticed that the frame of one of the sashes had been slightly cracked before arriving at the house and immediately ordered a new one. The crack was on the exterior of a second floor window, and we never would’ve even noticed it if they hadn’t called it out. When the replacement sash was ready, they came out straight away and quickly installed the sash. We also ordered two windows with the thicker glass for extra soundproofing due to exterior noises, and are very satisfied with just how much noise those thicker windows have blocked. The overall experience was extremely positive and we will absolutely use Good Guy Windows for any future window needs.”

“We had Good Guy replaced all windows of the house except for the sliding backdoor window. Total 12 windows. It has been a little over one year by now. They are all fine without any problem. The team was friendly and hard working. They were very responsive to calls and emails. Initially the windows came without the energy saving stickers. But they worked with the manufacture to quickly obtain them for my tax filing. In general we felt it easy in working with Good Guy. If ever we need windows service again, we will use them again.”
